Year 10 Camp
All families should have now received further information regarding the Year 10 Melbourne City Camp. If you have any questions or have not received this information, please contact the school. A reminder that is a compulsory school event and part of the learning program of the College. If for any reason your child is not able to attend, please notify sbaglin@sackialla.catholic.edu.au ASAP.
Work Experience
Our Year 10 students will engage in a week of work experience at the end of Term 2, from Monday 30 June to Friday 4 July. During this time, Year 10 classes are cancelled. It is expected that all Year 10 students will engage with an employer and complete work experience during this week. We ask families to begin conversations about possible opportunities. We also ask businesses within our community who may be able to accomodate a student for work experience during this time to reach out to the College or contact Belinda Gleeson bgleeson@sackialla.catholic.edu.au
Your assistance is much appreciated!
VCE Coordinator
A massive thank you to Naomi O'Connor in her role as VCE Coordinator. She has been a wonderful support to our VCE staff and students. As Naomi has stepped down from this role, all VCE inquiries can be directed to Sarah Baglin via College reception or sbaglin@sackialla.catholic.edu.au
VET Certificate III in Sport and Recreation Students Lead Year 7 Coaching Sessions
This week, VET Certificate III in Sport and Recreation students had the opportunity to coach Year 7 sport as part of the unit SISSSCO001 – Conduct Sport Coaching Sessions with Foundation Level Participants.
As part of their coaching experience, students introduced and facilitated the traditional Indigenous game of Buroinjin. This hands-on experience not only allowed them to share an important cultural sport but also helped them develop key leadership skills and build confidence in coaching and community sport settings.
This valuable learning experience reinforces the importance of practical coaching opportunities in fostering future leaders in sport and recreation.
Elevate Study Sessions
Students in Year 10-12 received handy tips on how to improve their study skills with Elevate today. Elevate provided guidance across sessions catered towards each year level. The Year 10 students received the Study Sensei presentation while both Year 11 and 12 students were given a presentation on Memory Mnemonics. The high impact workshops equipped students with fantastic tools to utilise over this crucial time of their schooling journey.
La Trobe University Visit
The Year 10 students learned about all things ‘university’ during sessions with representatives from La Trobe University. The sessions focused on tertiary education and the reasons why students would choose to study at university. The representatives also discussed what is required to get into university including the ATAR.
The sessions were a fantastic opportunity for students to think about the pathway required to their career aspirations and if studying at university is required to achieve their career goals.
Year 10 Formal Date
Families please note the date of the 2025 Year 10 Formal has been confirmed and is Friday 24 October. The start time of this event will be 6:30pm. Students have been asked to begin thinking about a theme and nominate for the formal committee if they wish to contribute to the organisation of this event.
