From the Principal ...

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land we are gathered on and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Congratulations to Kira K who achieved 4th place in Breastroke at the State Schools Victoria State Swimming Finals.   Shaun Penny sent out a live link to the event which 'stopped the school' as everyone in the office and learning areas throughout the school tuned in to support Kira. We are all tremendously proud of you Kira!

Curriculum Day

The day focused on exploring evidence-based approaches to teaching Mathematics and how Cheltenham Primary School will be assessing and reporting to the revised Mathematics Curriculum 2.0 this year.

Curriculum Overviews for Term 2

To support families to understand what is happening with learning and events in each Year Level PLC (professional learning community), we provide termly Curriculum overviews and learning reflections. These summaries give a snapshot of what is happening in learning - Literacy, Mathematics, STEAM and specialist disciplines- in addition to relevant year level information.  They also provide an opportunity for families to understand how the challenge extends as children progress from Foundation to Year 6. Today's newsletter has all the class overviews and our next one, will have the specialist overviews. If you would like to develop a sense of how learning progresses,  please do review all of these in today's newsletter.

School Production News

We are excited to share that planning is underway for a whole school production "When I Grow Up', to be held at Robert Blackwood Hall, Monash University, later in October. In the coming weeks, our Year 5 and 6 students will have the opportunity to audition for main roles, while all Foundation to Year 4 students will take part in the ensemble.  Look out for further details from Nicola Lane, Arts teacher, in forthcoming issues of the newsletter.

Mother's Day Stall

Our annual Mother’s Day Stall on Wednesday was filled with joyful moments as children carefully selected gifts for the special women in their lives. It was lovely to witness the thought and care each child put into choosing just the right present to represent their love and appreciation. The smiles on their faces and the excitement in their voices reflected how much this opportunity meant to them. A big thank you to our SRC Representatives Josephina, Jack and Troy  in 6A who helped me to set up  - ably assisted by our ES staff: Haidong, Pamela and Year 1 teacher, Jessica K. and Denise Rejda (PTFA President). Thank you for helping to make this event so memorable for our students and their mums, grandmothers, and caregivers.

Wishing all the mothers, grandmothers, and special caregivers in our school community a very Happy Mother’s celebration day on Sunday 11 May.  May you receive the love and appreciation you so richly deserve!

Kind Regards,

Bronwyn
