ADAM BLACKMORE

I would like to say a very big thank you to all the staff, students and parents who have made me feel so welcome here at Harvey Ag as I come to the end of my third week as Principal.

I have been familiarising myself with the wide variety of activities that occur within the scope of the College. To combine all the requirements of a senior high school such as OLNA, ESTs, moderation etc, with the running of a commercially stable farm, which features a myriad of enterprises alongside the ongoing care and welfare of 120 residential students is remarkable.

It is truly an amazing organisation with highly dedicated and professional staff across all areas providing excellent teaching/training programs and residential care to the students.

The long dry season has finally broken; however it will be several weeks before new growth appears, so we will continue to carefully manage feed and animal welfare requirements across the Farm.

Assessments

Term 2 is always an exciting and busy term. Year 10s have completed their first taste of the Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) and Year 12s are completing their Externally Set Tasks (ESTs). Students have been well prepared for these tests so will hopefully attain pleasing results.

RTO Re-Registration

Preparations are well underway for our Registered Training Organisation re-registration visit on Friday 10th May.  Thank you to Mr Pfitzner and all the staff who have been involved in  preparation for this day.

Upcoming Events

I am looking forward to Open Day on 25th May 2024 when I can meet more parents and community members as part of showcasing the College offerings. All staff across the College are busy preparing their section with the students to ensure a successful and enjoyable day for all.

The annual Country Week preparations are also underway with staff giving of their time to train and mentor student across a range of teams in preparation for the trip to Perth in the final week of term.

Of course, the end of Term 2 is also the time that Semester 1 Reports will be issued so students need to be make sure they have submitted all their assessments and projects on time to ensure their report reflects their ability.

Hopefully the rain will continue in the coming weeks to fill the dams and bring green shoots back to the paddocks and hills without flooding and damage to property.
