Term 1 was a fantastic one for Highvale’s interschool sporting competitors, with a number of great results and noteworthy performances. Our students always represent the college with great enthusiasm, displaying our values with pride. The year 8 boys volleyball team was successful in winning the division competition, as was the year 7 boys cricket team. They will now compete against the best teams from eastern metro region later in the year.

Special recognition must go to Aby W., of year 9. Aby has represented Highvale at 3 consecutive state swimming competitions. This year, after wins at both division and region, Aby competed in the 50 metre freestyle final at the state championships, once again held at MSAC on the 19th of April. After a slow start to her race, Aby came home strong to place second, finishing just 0.4 seconds behind the winner. A fantastic effort. Aby also recently competed at the national championships on the Gold Coast. Congratulations Aby on your continued success in representing the college in swimming!

In term two, we have the sports of soccer, girls netball, boys AFL and badminton on offer for students to try out for. There is a separate boys netball and girls AFL gala day, to be held on Tuesday the 21st of May. We also have Division Cross country on the 7th of May. Both of these events are open to students from all year levels to try out for. We look forward to another big term of sport!
