KLA Feature - Religious Education
Religious Education
It has been busy in RE classes this term. Students in Year 7-10 have been engaged and focussed in a variety of activities in which they have been exploring concepts such as belonging, the gift of prayer, how the scriptures inspire people to live out a Christian life and moral decision making. Our senior students have been focused in working towards developing their knowledge and skills culminating in the completion of formal tasks over the past two weeks.
As a college community we have focussed on the Catholic Social teachings of Solidarity and the Common Good which have been the driving force behind our Project Compassion fundraising activities that started on Caroline Chisholm and conclude next week.
All classes have explored the significance of Holy Week in the lead up to the Resurrection on Easter Sunday which is the most significant time in the liturgical calendar. As a college community we joined together on Holy Thursday to reflect on the days of Holy week and the joy of Easter.
RE Teachers Retreat
On Wednesday 27th March our RE teachers had the opportunity to share in a retreat experience at the Mt Schoenstatt Spirituality Centre at Mulgoa. This retreat is an important element in the Professional Learning and Formation of our RE teachers. Over the course of the day they explored the mission of the Catholic school, the role of the RE teacher as specialist, moderator and witness and the nature and importance of prayer in the formation of our students. Staff were also able to have a personal experience of prayer allowing them to deepen their own faith experience.
