Faith and Mission

On Friday the 29th March, twelve Year 12 students and five staff members as part of the college's Faith in Action Team (FIAT) participated in the Catholic Youth Parramatta’s (CYP) Good Friday Night Walk.

The Good Friday Walk is a part of a growing annual tradition where schools, youth groups and parishes participate in a 20 km pilgrimage walk from St Patrick’s Church, Blacktown to St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta to mark the most solemn event on the Christian calendar - Good Friday. This year over 1200 young people across the diocese participated in this pilgrimage experience.

Throughout the walk pilgrims stopped at six Catholic Churches to reflect on The Stations of the Cross and join together in prayer and reflection. Through this reflection participants also had the opportunity to recognise that through their own physical journey they could be united with Christ on his journey to the cross.

Both the staff and students involved found this to be a profound spiritual experience, enabling them to deepen their faith.

“The Good Friday Night Walk was a special and eye opening experience for me that I am deeply grateful for. It was great to see so many youth and people of many ages come together in the solemnity of Christ to walk with him in his suffering. One thing I took away spiritually from the experience is that Jesus suffered and died for the love of everyone even though he was scared. Through testimonies shared by other pilgrims I was able to see that even when you are scared God is there to guide you.” Georgia Calderwood

Thank you to the staff and students who attended the Good Friday Walk and CYP for organising such an amazing event.
