Classroom Essential Agreement

David Mackay

As part of the IB PYP curriculum, all classrooms within our school establish an 'essential agreement'.

These agreements are a collective set of norms and expectations, collaboratively designed and developed between the classroom teachers and their classes.

Classroom essential agreements are crafted collaboratively, allowing students to express their opinions, make choices, and take ownership of their classroom dynamics. These agreements comprise action-oriented norms and expectations, framed positively, and are designed to be easily comprehensible for students.

Once the classroom essential agreements are unanimously agreed upon by all students, they are prominently displayed in the classroom.

Please see the attached document for Caulfield South Primary School’s Essential Agreements for Years 1 to 6 for 2024.
