Deputy Principal

Years 8, 10 &12

A great start to 2024!! To all our new students and staff welcome to our school community.

Year 8

The Year 8 cohort have settled well into their second year at high school and are working well on their assessments and skill building. They have been working on their mantras and as a result of self-reflection and hard work are a wonderful group of individuals who support each other.

A big thanks to Mr Hoole who has focused so much time on building their collaboration and resilience skills.

Year 10

Year 10 are about to enter an important term as they gain knowledge and understanding to establish their educational goals, as they move into the Senior School. They should be speaking to their teachers and asking lots of questions in their Career classes about subject content and expectations, university entrance, prerequisite subjects for courses and suitability for certain subject areas and levels.

In Term 2 all Year 10 students will take part in the Senior School Pathway Events.

These events help parents and caregivers understand the requirements of this ‘transition’ year. The first event is the Senior School Pathway Information Evening was held on Thursday June 6 - 2024 at 6.00pm in the Multi-Purpose Centre.

Key discussion points discussed:

  • Overview of the study pathways available to students.
  • NESA requirements and Vocational Education.
  • Managing assessments and N-awards
  • Planning for Year 11 - 2025
  • Stage 6 Preparation Program Term 4 - 2024
  • Welfare and Academic Support Systems
  • Subject patterns and options for Years 11 & 12

At this event all participants were issued with an Information Booklet which highlights all subject information and additional descriptions about pathways. This event will complement the individualised presentations delivered by all faculty Head Teachers to Year 10 about the different subjects offered in all faculty areas.

The next important event for Year 10 is the Senior Pathways Evening where staff will be available to answer questions and show examples of the sort of activities students can expect in their subjects and advice regarding expectations and suitability. The evening will be held on the Thursday 20 June at 6.00pm in the Multi-Purpose Centre.

All students will have the chance to receive individualise advice during the Year 10 into 11 interviews.

Attendance at all events is fundamental to holistic understanding of the transitional pathways into Senior School, so we urge all parents and caregivers to attend.

Ms Bailey and Ms Diterlizzi have been very busy supporting our Year 10 students, thank you for your time and efforts.

Year 12 have worked extremely hard this term and have been rewarded with some fine results and improvement in many areas. To celebrate we had a breakfast on Friday morning.

It was also a significant moment in time on Friday as we said goodbye to Fiona Lippert our German exchange student. Fiona has been a wonderful addition to the Year 12 cohort, and we wish her all the best as she returns home.

Year 12 are reminded of the study afternoon available to all senior students on Tuesday afternoons from 12.00pm in the school library. Student Support staff will be in the library to support students who need assistance with tasks, technology and research skills.

Uniform Reminder

As the colder weather approaches a reminder about our uniform policy and school standards:

  • Hooded jumpers are not permitted.
  • Black tailored slacks – no jeans or leggings
  • Juniors must always wear a school jumper, if an under shirt is worn it is not to be visible under the school jumper.
  • Seniors must always wear a full school uniform.

We have a wonderful community reputation which, is reinforced constantly with our students displaying their school pride in the correct uniform.
