CONGRATULATIONS ON A WONDERFUL TERM

As we near the conclusion of another term, we're thrilled to share with you some exciting initiatives and achievements that have happened through our Student Services space. Let's take a moment to recognise and celebrate the hard work, perseverance, accomplishments and resilience displayed by our students and staff throughout the term.

INTERNATIONAL

WOMEN'S DAY

Central Coast Women’s Health Centre held a brilliant IWD event, which some members of Henry Kendall High School’s Fierce group attended. We listened to inspiring local women give speeches about current and historical discrimination and ways to overcome it.

Then we participated in workshops to network and enjoy ourselves; Miss Fitzgerald was asked to give an impromptu speech about FIERCE, through which Henry Kendall High School gained a bunch of new admirers because of how brilliant our girls are; then four of our girls wowed everyone by performing a song written by an attending musician, despite having only a few minutes of rehearsal prior. The fierce girls are outstanding ambassadors for our school and young women in general, as they continue to strive for equality.

We also wish to congratulate our very own Ms Fitzgerald who was awarded Gosford Woman of the Year for her work in education.

LIFE CHANGER PROGRAM YEAR 7

On Thursday 29 February, Year 7 participated in the Life Changer Program. Life Changer is a preventative mental health and wellbeing program that empowers young people with the courage to thrive by developing their social, emotional and resilience skills. The workshop was divided into three parts, where students explored the theme of connection in a fun and interactive learning environment. Young people engaged with what it means to self-reflect, connect with peers and connect with their future and put steps in place to achieve personal goals. Students are to be commended on their participation on the day and respect towards the facilitators.

HARMONY DAY

On Thursday 21st of March, we celebrated Harmony Day. This day holds great significance in fostering diversity and inclusion within our school community. The morning kicked off with a Harmony Day presentation run by our student leaders. During the presentation a video was shown featuring some of our wonderful students representing their culture. During Break 2, Mr Fabila and Mr Hoole ran indigenous games on the oval and Ms Klein ran Harmony Day trivia in the library. It was a wonderful celebration and a joy filled day for the whole school community

MEET THE TEAM

In Student Services, we have a wonderful team of wellbeing and learning support staff. Throughout the year, we will be highlighting our staff in our newsletter and you will get the opportunity to get to know us a little better.

NCCD

In Term 2, Student Services will begin the NCCD Interview process. All students with an NCCD plan will have the opportunity to meet with the team and discuss their learning and adjustments. Once plans have been revised, information and a copy of the updated plan will be mailed home for review.
