What a settled beginning to the Year 2024 it has been in the realm of Mathematics!

Year 7 students have seamlessly settled into their studies, solidifying their foundational knowledge in preparation for further exploration throughout high school. Also in Stage 4, Year 8 students have been introduced to Algebraic Techniques.

In Stage 5, Year 9 students have been introduced to Financial Mathematics, Indices, and Equations, while Year 10 students have also delved into Financial Mathematics alongside enhancing their proficiency in Algebra and Equations.

Our Stage 6 students have diligently progressed through their respective courses, gearing up to tackle their initial assessment tasks for the year. Many of these assessments entail mathematical inquiries, showcasing the practical relevance of their skills and their applications in real-life scenarios.

The tradition of the "Golden Calculator" continues into 2024. This accolade is bestowed upon a student at each Celebration Assembly (twice per term) to commend their consistent dedication to excellence in Mathematics. Recipients of this honour not only gain the privilege of utilising the golden calculator during class but also receive a $10 voucher for our school canteen. Congratulations to Emily Cui, our esteemed winner this term!

It's heartening to witness the significant turnout of students attending the "Maths and Milo" sessions before school on Tuesdays. This designated space, hosted in room GL9 from 8.00am onwards, provides students with an opportunity to seek guidance from teachers, collaborate with peers on math problems, complete assignments and of course enjoy a complimentary hot or cold Milo. It's particularly gratifying to note that students from all year groups are actively participating in this initiative.

A gentle reminder of the importance of staying abreast of both classwork and homework. Falling behind on one concept in Mathematics can potentially hinder understanding of subsequent topics, leading to disengagement with the subject over time.

Wishing everyone a safe and rejuvenating holiday break, and eagerly anticipating a productive Term 2 ahead.
