Introducing David Foley and Tandy Johnson

End of term one is upon us.  It's been a busy term with two school camping adventures and many school sports events and special events.  Congratulations to students and staff for their great work and lots of the learning that has taken place.

CURRICULUM DAY: On Monday 18th March we held our second Curriculum Day for the year.  All staff completed a refresher course on the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) provides strategies for teaching and learning that enables teachers to increase engagement of students with complex, unmet learning needs and to successfully improve all students’ self-regulation, relationships, well-being, growth and academic achievement.

The BSEM pedagogical strategies incorporate trauma-informed teaching, positive education, and well-being practices. All staff have been fully trained in the BSEM model and implement well-being practices into the school day, including a whole class morning meeting to ensuring students are ‘ready to learn’. The key concepts of BSEM are regularly revisited and ensure teachers are implementing evidence-based strategies for engagement and support.

SCHOOL PRODUCTION: Chrissy Jedrys (Performing Arts) has announced the year 5 + 6 School Production of 'Peter Pan'.  The performance is scheduled to take place in term 3 on 15th August at Eltham High School.  Students have already started auditioning for key roles and just been selected.  Parents are welcome to assist with the preparation as this is a major event.

NAPLAN: Our year 3 + 5 students have been participating in NAPLAN assessments. We have just completed the process.  The students used ipads to complete the set assessments.

On behalf of the staff we hope you and your family have an enjoyable Easter and vacation.  looking forward to a very busy and exciting term two.
