Deputy Principal Staff and Students Report

Welcome to Term 2

Happy Easter to all our families. I hope and pray the Risen Lord continues to touch your heart and life and that the Holy Spirit helps us all to open our eyes and ears more to the presence of the Risen Lord in our daily lives.

It was great to welcome our students back on Tuesday after the Term 1 holidays. We hope our students and families had a great break. The first term was a busy one and a successful one. The implementation of the Silent Study Centre for our Year 12 students has been a big change and the students have done a good job adjusting. We have seen an improvement in student behaviour and approach to their studies and will be working hard to continue this growth in Term 2. Again, we are grateful for the support of families and rely on this as we continue to work together to obtain the best outcomes for students. We look forward to working with families in Term 2 and again invite parents, guardians, and carers to please be in touch of there are any matters, that could be shared, that may assist us with supporting your child.

Please also feel free to contact the relevant staff members should there be any questions, concerns, or issues you would like to discuss.

A big thank you also to all the parents, carers and guardians who came along to our Student Progress Meetings at the end of Term 1. It is a joy for us to meet the families and very helpful for the students to have us working together.

Staff Professional Development

On Monday the staff had a professional development day focussing on the very important topics of Child Safety, Risk Assessment for off campus activities and also a session on our School Review, which happens every four years. It was a busy but fruitful day and will prove practical for us in the future.

Important Dates

The start of the term has a few adjustments to the normal routine so please be aware of the following:

  • Wednesday 24 April  - Anzac Prayer Service
  • Thursday 25 April – Anzac Day Public Holiday (no classes)
  • Friday 26 April – Staff Professional Development Day (no classes)

Uniform

A reminder that students are required to wear the winter uniform for term 2 & 3. This includes wearing the blazer to and from school each day. The expectations were communicated clearly at the end of term 1 so there should be no issues with the uniform.

Staffing

Our International Coordinator Ms Marilyn Robert has commenced leave for Terms 2 and 3. We wish her all the best for her leave. We welcome Mr Robert Scott who joins us as our International Coordinator. Mr Scott joins us with a wealth of experience both in Australian schools and overseas. We look forward to Mr Scott enriching our community.

Ms Mirella Venturini worked in a replacement position in Term 1 and will be traveling overseas. We thank her for her great contribution and wish her all the best for her travels.

At the start of 2024 we welcomed over twenty new staff to Nazareth. They have made a fantastic contribution and we do feel very blessed with the wonderful staff we have at Nazareth. As our numbers continue to increase, we will be taking on new staff in 2025.

Principal

Our College Principal Mr Cosentino returned from leave today, and we look forward to his presence and leadership in Term 2.

Looking ahead

As we commence Term 2 together, we wish all the students a very fruitful term of learning and growth and look forward to journeying together. We pray we are attuned to the presence of the Risen Lord who walks besides us like the disciples on the way to Emmaus as we journey.

God Bless

Mr Justin Duckett
