Year 7 Wrap Up 2024

It has been a wonderful year with our 2024 Year 7 Cohort. Let's hear from some of our student leaders about their experiences.

Year 7 was one of (if not) the best school years I have had in my life, the new friends, classes and teachers all made it, the best it could be. Some highlights of my year were the roller skating day where we all got to hang out at Sk8House, as well as the Year 7 camp. My one piece of advice would be to just not worry about it all, it gets so much easier the longer you stay and it is worth all the memories you gain in the end.

Year 7 was the best year I could’ve asked for, it was only my first year at Patterson River Secondary College but I’ve made so many memories from camp to extra curricula activities, it was so fun, I’ve made lots of new friends and can’t wait to make more, my highlight was making my new friends in camp which was in February

Year 7 has been a roller coaster of a year but has been one of the best years ever. Adjusting from primary school to high school is a leap but the teachers make everything so much easier. Camp was really a highlight.

Year 7 has been a wild year, I’ve made so many memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life.  The amount of opportunities I’ve had is insane and I can’t wait for so many more. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Year 7 and hope to have an enjoyable Year 8!

Year 7 was great, there was a lot of ups and downs but it was amazing with all the out of school activities like camp, sport and swim days, in Year 7 there was so many opportunities to extend yourself and make new friends. All of the teachers are extremely nice and welcoming to everyone, they helped us adjust to the school coming from primary school. Overall, it was the best year in my school life I’ve had so far!

On behalf of Mr Byrnes, Ms McKenzie and myself, we would like to sincerely thank our Year 7 students and their families for an amazing first year of secondary school. We were so impressed with the way in which our students adapted to our values and became an integral part of our College community. We sincerely wish everyone a very happy holiday break. Best wishes for Year 8!

2025 Year 8 Congratulations

To our 2025 Year 8 Students and Families,

Congratulations on your successful start to Year 8. We have been very impressed by your positive attitude and your excellent behaviour. In fact, your teachers have been so impressed that there have been over 200 Positive Behaviour recognitions made just in the three week step up period. Well done!

Have a wonderful break over the school holidays and make the most of the beautiful local environment that you live in. Stay safe and we look forward to a great year working with you in 2025.

From Ms Kloas, Mr Pecur and Mrs Scales

Roses Gap Camp

Our Year 9 students embarked on an unforgettable adventure at Roses Gap Camp, nestled in the heart of the Grampians. The camp was a whirlwind of exciting activities designed to challenge students, build teamwork and foster resilience. From scaling towering rock faces in rock climbing to the heart-pounding descent of abseiling, students pushed themselves to new heights—literally and figuratively. Canoeing on tranquil waters and building rafts tested their creativity and collaboration, while bushwalks through the breathtaking scenery allowed everyone to soak in nature's beauty and discover the local wildlife, including kangaroos, wallabies and an array of native bird species.

The giant swing, archery, late evening activities were filled with plenty of laughter and cheers echoing through the campgrounds. Without the distraction of phones, students reconnected with each other, making new friends and strengthening existing bonds. The camp wasn’t without its challenges, but watching students face their fears, overcome obstacles and embrace the spirit of adventure was truly inspiring. Most importantly, the camp was filled with fun, memories and a sense of achievement that will stay with our Year 9 students for years to come.
