Principal's Message

Hello and welcome back to our MPHPS Community

Here we are ready to begin 2025. I am sure like many of you, we continue to marvel at how quickly time flies. For some of you, you are embarking on a brilliant new journey into primary school and for others, you are scratching your head wondering how you have a child in year 6 and ready to consider secondary school.

We welcome our new Foundation students and families who will be joining us onsite next week. The Foundation staff are currently conducting the 1-1 school entry testing and are working hard to collect entry data. This data is extremely important in ensuring the students are able to access a differentiated program that continues to scaffold and build on the student’s knowledge and growth as they start their school year. Parents, I ask you to please remember:

  • Your child’s journey, timing and pace is their own.
  • Try not to compare their growth or knowledge with others in their class or against their siblings.
  • Every child has a strength, skill and ability and we celebrate the uniqueness of these.
  • Support your child by being positive about the class tasks, the teacher and the school events.
  • Staff across the school take great care in monitoring student progress and in developing activities and tasks that support learning at point of need.
  • Maintain the trust you have in the school and staff – we are the professionals and will always do our best to support your child’s emotional, social and academic growth at school.

To our returning families, we hope you have enjoyed the time together and are ready to access another wonderful year of learning. I hope you made the time to meet with your classroom teacher at the Meet & Greet so that you could begin to build a positive relationship together. You will have another opportunity to reflect on your child’s progress at the end of this term. Should you wish to make a time to discuss any concerns or issues, please remember to send an email to your child’s teacher via Compass or at the school’s email address.

You will notice a few upgrades and changes over the course of this term and we will keep you informed as we go. The following occurred over December / January

  • Preparation and planning for the School Saving Bonus
  • Painting in the main building – all doors, window trims and Admin offices
  • Clearing of all gutters and roof maintenance
  • Movement of furniture from the previous Year 3 portables to the new Year 2/3 building
  • New cabinetry built and installed across the school
  • Removal of old, damaged and unused items from portables being removed in 2025 – this includes the Year 3 portables, the previous performing arts and archive portable
  • Garden maintenance and tidy

I am adding a copy of our 2025 staffing profile, an updated school map and a list of important dates for you to put in your diary. A great chance for you to plan ahead.

Here’s to a fabulous 2025

Cheers

Chris
