Welcome to the 2025 school year!
The Prep teachers are absolutely thrilled to embark on this exciting learning journey with your child as they start school this year.
We've spent the past two weeks conducting assessments, which will give us valuable insights into your child's individual learning needs in the classroom.
We have also been setting up the Investigations spaces ready for the students to explore and play. We have a police station, fire station, writing space, hospital, home corner, maths table, feelings space, tinkering space and a craft table.
Don't forget, we have our Parent Information Night on Tuesday, February 11th. We'll be sharing what’s ahead for the year and are happy to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you there!
Kind regards,
The Prep Team

Welcome Back Everyone! We hope you had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed some time with the family.
We have had a wonderful beginning to the school year with all the students returning settled and ready to learn. Last week we spent time getting to know each other and setting classroom rules and expectations.
Keep a close eye on Compass for the Feed Forwards which will cover the content being taught over the coming weeks. Have a wonderful Term 1.
A gentle reminder that we have our Parent Information Night on Tuesday February 11th, beginning at 6pm. We will be sharing information related to our grades and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you there!

Grade 3 & 4
We have had an amazing start to the year! It’s been wonderful seeing the students back in the classroom, enjoying seeing their friends, as well as making new friends and connections. Getting back in the routine has been like riding a bike!
In the classroom, the 3/4 level have been reading a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts. They have been understanding the difference between the two and finding the features of each. We have also continued to build our understanding of the Readers Workshop and ‘what makes a good reader’ including building our reading stamina.
In Writing, students have revised the writing process and began planning and drafting short recount pieces. They have proof-read and edited these writing pieces and published these as a final copy. Work around the Writer’s workshop and ‘what makes a good writer’ have also been the focus.
Maths lessons have been learning based around Place Value, including lots of hands-on tasks with MAB blocks. Students have made animals and building structures with MAB bocks, to estimate and record the value of these creations. They also participated in a lesson linked to using numbers lines to plot a variety of 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-digit numbers.
In Inquiry, the students have started understanding the concept of ‘Identity’. They brainstormed what this means and created a definition. Students began to think about what makes up the Rolling Hills identity and their own identity.
We’ve had a ball over the first 10 days! Please keep a look out for events and information on Compass and reach out to your class teacher with any question or concerns.

Grade 5 & 6
Hi everyone!
We hope you had an amazing summer filled with fun, relaxation and adventure.
The Level 5/6 students enjoyed jumping back into the excitement of a brand new school year. It was wonderful to see their bright and eager faces and we can't wait to explore new subjects, make friends and create memories that will last a lifetime. The students have returned to school with passion and enthusiasm and are loving reconnecting with their friends.
The Level 5/6 team are excited to be working with our school leaders. Over the past two weeks we have focused on establishing classroom structures and routines. We have some awesome events lined up this year, and there will be many opportunities for the students to grow, challenge themselves and discover new talents. We can't wait to see where the journey takes them.
Please enjoy a few photos of the students having fun!
Don't forget the Grade 5/6 Information Night on Tuesday 11th February. We are looking forward to meeting many of you then!
