Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year and welcome to our first newsletter of the school year. We are delighted to welcome back our students and families, as well as the many new families joining our school community this year. There is always lots of information to start the new school year, so please read carefully. Information on how to translate the newsletter and emails from schoolbytes is included at the end of this section.
We have had an incredibly smooth start to the school year resulting in us being able to move into 2025 classes sooner than expected. During the day on Monday 10 February, students will move into their 2025 classes. Our staff have worked carefully to ensure that class placements support student learning, wellbeing, and social development. Changes to classes will not be considered.
On Monday, you will receive an email from the school with some basic information to assist you prior to our Meet the Teacher evening. In the email you will be informed of the following:
We invite all parents and carers to attend our Meet the Teacher Evening on Tuesday, 18 February. This is an invaluable opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher, gain insight into classroom expectations, and learn how we can work together to support your child’s learning in 2025. Strong partnerships between home and school are key to student success, and we encourage all families to attend.
All materials will be sent home via email if you are unable to attend the meeting. Please note, this event is for parents and carers only. Children should not attend and there is no supervision.
We are also thrilled to introduce some new and returning staff members to our school community. They bring a wealth of experience, passion, and expertise, and we look forward to their contributions in enhancing student learning and wellbeing. Jeong Lee, Tish Sood, Abby James, Laura Hassall, Ciara Fahy, Cathal O'Sullivan, Angela King, Frances Graham, Jessica Robinson and Elizabeth Primrose are all part of the 2025 Chatswood team.
We welcomed our beautiful 2025 Kindergarten cohort to both mainstream and our Inclusive Hub. We are so proud of how settled, brave and confident they were! We look forward to a wonderful year ahead.
We also extend a warm welcome to our Year 5 OC students and their families who officially joined our school community this week. It has been an extensive process to get to this point. We thank your families for their support and look forward to working alongside you.
School Bytes provides a parent portal to help your school communicate with you.
Our school uses the parent portal for various things, including online permission notes, attendance, and payments, which can be accessed via a secure link. The School Bytes parent portal enables you to view all your children in one portal and process payments for multiple siblings in one transaction.

The school office will distribute permission notes via School Bytes for general excursions, incursions, school carnivals, technology use, PSSA activities, and other publishing matters. Timely processing of these notes is essential. We kindly request that parents complete them promptly, as this facilitates the smooth execution of events and activities, ensuring that your child does not miss out on valuable experiences.

Please ensure the school is aware of any medical needs your child may have. It is the responsibility of parents/carers to provide updated Health Care Plans, Action Plans and medications to the school. Students are not permitted to carry medication in their own bags. If your child requires medication at any point during the school day, it must be kept in the office and administered under supervision.
Thank you to parents/carers who have already replied and visited the office with an updated Health Care Plan, Action Plan and medication this year. Action Plans are medical documents completed and signed by the treating doctor, not a parent. Please be advised that Action Plans do not expire, and therefore the plan is still valid beyond the recommended review date, which is a guide for patients to see their doctor.
However, the school strongly recommends that parents/carers visit the doctor to ensure their child/ren's health condition is up to date.
When you get an Action Plan from your doctor, be sure to get a coloured one. Please look at the latest version of Action Plans as your reference.
Please click on the flyer above to start your child's application.
