Matilda by Roald Dahl

This term, we have been studying the text Matilda by Roald Dahl. We have LOVED reading this text! We have learnt so many new words and have learnt to put these words in our own sentences to show our understanding.

Reflections on Matilda:

  • "I didn't like how Miss Trunchbull was meaning and swung a student around by her pigtails. I loved that Matilda got revenge on her family." - Malak 3/4D
  • "I didn't like Miss Trunchbull because she was rude to the students. I loved when Miss Trunchbull fainted. I really liked that Matilda learned so much at such a young age." - Hakim 3/4D
  • "I loved that Matilda was an intelligent and brilliant girl. I didn't like how awful Miss Trunchbull was. I loved how the text was written." Abby 3/4A
  • "I loved that the book kept us interested all the time with so many problems. I didn't like Miss Trunchbull because she was a mean, big figure." Tristen 3/4A
  • "I liked Matilda because she had a great personality. She was smart and could move things with her mind. I also liked Miss Trunchbull because she was mean and funny. She was kind of evil. I also loved when she fainted because of Matilda's powers." - Adelaide 3/4E
  • "I disliked Miss Trunchbull's personality. I did like when Matilda pranked her dad by putting glue on his hat. It was funny." - Raph 3/4E

Some of our students showed their love and interest of the book at lunchtime, by recreating a scene from the book. Well done!

'Agatha, this is Magnus. Give my Jenny back ...'

NAPLAN!

Well done to our Grade 3 students who completed their first NAPLAN tests over the last 2 weeks. They worked so hard and persisted even if the questions were challenging. A big thank you to Ms Jones for her organisation with NAPLAN for our school!

On Monday, our Grade 4's enjoyed participating in a Maths Escape Room, which required them to complete 5 chance tasks before moving along to the next task, to then get the key to 'unlock the classroom'. They worked so hard on each task.

It ended up being a close call, but our winners were:

Thomas and Chester from 3/4D and 3/4A.

Raph, Adelaide and Poppy from 3/4C, 3/4B and 3/4E.

Cultural Dance Lesson

On Tuesday morning, the Grade 3/4s learnt a cultural dance - the Tarantella, a traditional Italian dance. We will spend the next few weeks practising before showing off our dance in Week 10!
