Around the Primary Classes
Year 1
This year has been a year of tremendous growth and change. Here are some of our highlights from 2024, written in the words of Year 1s.

I also loved picked up a hermit crab at the Marine Discovery Centre and listening to the snapping shrimp in the water below us through the headphones. Sylvia Tiefhoz Bar-Ness

Year 2
Year 2 had a wonderful time at the Nativity this week and on our recent excursion to the Sustainability Learning Centre. We have been working very hard all term and loved the opportunity to consolidate our learning and celebrate together.
What a fabulous time in Year 5 in 2024!
Term 1 was very busy with the College Swimming Carnival, NAPLAN testing and our overnight camp at Port Arthur which saw us tour the Isle of Dead and make our own convict bricks. The camp also allowed us to establish new friendships with the many new students who to our year group.
Term 2 was a little bit quieter with Field Day being the major event of the calendar but along the way we managed an excursion or two.
Things really ramped up in Term 3 with the Arts Festival being our main priority with the Year 5 students performing a superb dance routine on the night. Many afternoons were dedicated to fine tuning our art pieces for showcasing and they all looked wonderful. Again, excursions were high on the agenda for us with visits to the Antarctica display at TMAG which ended in a delicious ice cream at Mures. We channeled our inner scientists when visiting The Festival of Bright Ideas and welcomed scientists from UTAS who spoke to us on a variety of topics.
Term 4 came along and went by so quickly. We had Learn-to-Swim for a week and both classes worked together in groups making and presenting a News Program plus playing our "Bounce Back" board games that were made as part of the Health Unit. Our last excursion for the year was a visit to the Botanical Gardens to watch Alice in Wonderland which was tremendous and even had one of our girls be a small part of the show.
It has been a wonderful year with 39 very special students who have supported each other, who have grown academically and personally and Mrs Himson, Miss Magill and Mr Lowe could not be prouder of them, and we know that in 2025 they will be wonderful leaders of the primary school.
From everyone in Year 5 we wish the College community a wonderful Christmas and a well-deserved break.
