Term 4 Timetable

Music with Emily Term 4 - Fortnightly Rotating Timetable
Week 12/31/2Prep/1

Week 25/6 A5/6 B4Performance

In music students have been working towards our upcoming music performance.

Prep/1 students have started to learn the notes on the xylophones and how to use a mallet correctly and will play 99 O’clock to show these new skills.

1/2 students will also demonstrate new xylophone skills, including rolling the mallets, with a piece called I Wanna CCC.

The 2/3 class have been learning and putting together drumming rhythms, air violin tunes, singing and a marimba melody to play a piece called Gina.

Year 4 students are continuing to improve their chord progressions and rhythm skills and will showcase two pieces on the ukulele- Black Socks and Scooby Dooby Doo.

Students from both 5/6 classes have composed lyrics for a piece titled I Wonder. This piece includes a very recognisable bassline (Pachelbel’s Canon) played on xylophones and ukuleles, a harmony line on metallophones, a tricky melodic line played on glockenspiels and voices singing 5 of the student compositions.

The whole school have also been learning the words and music for an ambitious whole school collaboration. We will showcase Scooby Dooby Doo with all 125 students singing or playing together. It may still be a work in progress by the 15th of November but we’ll share it with all the workings on display at the music performance and hopefully bring it together again in the final weeks of Term 4.

Looking forward to some productive rehearsals with the students over the next few weeks and sharing with families what they have been learning in Week 7.

Musical Performance

All welcome!

Rehersals

The Prep/1 class was joined by some friends in Year 4 for their music lesson yesterday where they learnt a new song titled Black Socks. Luella, Cleo, Andie, Eloise and Amalie have been working on dance moves for the piece their class is performing, on ukuleles, at the upcoming concert. They performed the dance for the younger students and then worked in small groups to workshop the separate moves and then the whole group tried the dance from beginning to end. Lots of great teaching was on display and the younger students were fast learners. It was lots of fun and a great workout for everyone’s core muscles!

The Prep/1 class and Year 4 class will perform Black Socks together at the music performance ‘Bouncing Bars and Strumming Strings’ on Wednesday 15th November 2.30pm.

The Prep/1 class will be required to wear black socks on the day so if you have any at home please bring them in to school.

Thank you!

Choir

Choir is open for all year levels to join and rehearsals are held each Wednesday during lunchtime. It's great to see so many students from all year levels getting involved.
