Digital Technology

Foundation have been steadily building their coding skills using ScratchJr Coding.

So far students have learnt:

  • To move left, right, up and down
  • To shrink and grow
  • To hide
  • Use loops to make a ball bounce
  • To transition between two backgrounds
  • To code more than one character.

Grade One and Two students have been recognising and explore patterns in data and representing data as picture, symbols and in graphs.

They have been using their monster posters to observe, record and represent their data.

Students have mastered how to make graphs using an online digital program.

The Grade Three and Fours have also been developing their coding skills through a program called Scratch on a platform called Grok.

Grok allows the students to build on their current coding skills while supporting and guiding them through activities that teach students new skills.

Many students have enjoyed this learning and are excited for their coding project that student will begin in the coming weeks.

Grade Five and Sixes have been investigating, brainstorming and researching and now designing their on online game that will be suitable for a student in Grade One and Two. Students have identified the elements of games that are appealing and appropriate for students and and now at the designing phase.

Students will be using Microsoft MaeCode Arcade to begin coding their games in the coming weeks.
