From the Classroom

Grade 3/4

Another busy term has begun with Grade 3/4T. Children will certainly be looking forward to some of the exciting events at school towards the back end of the year.

In the classroom, I have been extremely proud of all the children and their efforts to achieve successfully learning outcomes.

For all subject areas below, students have been working on the following:

Reading: Students have focussed on Inferring. They are learning to link their prior knowledge and also the clues in the pictures or text to help them make inferences.

Spelling: All children have continued to develop their knowledge and skills with various phoneme sounds and identifying the correct graphemes to spell more complex words.

Writing: This term children have been adding more detail to their illustrations, when planning for a Narrative writing piece. This has helped add depth to their stories and paint the scene for the reader. Children have been writing about an abandoned place and were able to break their writing piece into paragraphs for beginning, middle and end.

Maths: Each day students practise automaticity with their maths facts. We are now beginning Fractions. Students main focus will be working on splitting shapes into halves, thirds, fourths and fifths, as well as, ordering these fractions on a number line.

Concert: Just a reminder to return your child’s concert bag to school, so we are prepared for our upcoming dress rehearsal day.
