Bring along a gold coin donation for the Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project to toss into our mock Trevi Fountain. 

Italian themed activities will run at lunch time including:

• Soccer game 
• Italian activities in the Library and learning spaces

SOLE/Diversity Day Colour Run

Our SOLE/Diversity Day Colour Run will be held next Friday, 10th November.  

Details and permission request have been forwarded to families via Operoo this week.

Years 3/4 Market Day

The Years 3/4 Community warmly invites the F-8 community and their families to attend our 3/4 Market Day.

Thursday 16th November

from 11.20am to 1.00pm

Items will range from 50c to $3.50.

There will be a sausage sizzle available. 

$2 per sausage.

Please donate to the Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project

This term our College is collecting items for people who are receiving support from the Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project in Melbourne. 

Each TA/Class will create their own hamper/package comprised of some of the specific items that BASP requests below, especially the items in bold.  BASP do not have spare space to store items that are not used.

Each TA will receive a bag for their collection and these packages will be delivered to the Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project prior to Christmas.

Please give generously, if you can. 

What is the Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project (BASP)?

The Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project (BASP) was established in 2001 to work for a humane, just and inclusive approach for people seeking asylum in Australia.

It is a Melbourne based initiative of the Brigidine Sisters who have been engaged in education and social justice since arriving in Echuca from Ireland in 1886.

Australia has a long history of welcoming migrants and refugees and is a signatory to the 1951 UN Refugee Convention, but it has become increasingly apparent since the 1990s that people genuinely seeking asylum in Australia are treated unjustly. Many have been held in detention centres, both in Australia and offshore and if released are dependent on charities for their survival.

Sr Brigid Arthur regularly visited detainees in Melbourne and became painfully aware of the plight of asylum seekers if they were released into the community, so they established BASP. Initially, financial support came from the Brigidine Sisters, but as time has gone by there is increasing financial support from donations and fundraising events. The day to day support of the asylum seekers in the care of BASP is provided by over 70 highly committed volunteers.

Past Students and Friends Memorial Liturgy

Every year we fondly remember and honour Past Students and Friends of St Augustine's College who have left this world too soon.

Everyone is welcome to the outdoor Liturgy that will take place in the peace of the College Memorial Garden commencing at 5.00pm. Light refreshments will be served following Mass, which will be held in the Church at 6.00pm.
