Clara A (Year 11)

Congratulations to Clara A who received the MVP award (Most Valuable Player) from the Victorian Volleyball League 2023 Awards Night in the Reserve Women’s Division 2 category.

EISM 5-a-side Soccer Gala

It was a beautiful day for a 5-a-side Soccer event at Knox regional Soccer Football Centre. This year is the first time Huntingtower has been represented at the Gala, with 4 teams. Senior Boys and Senior Girls teams built from enthusiastic soccer stars selected from Year 10 – 12 and Junior Boys and Girls teams built from up and coming masters of the sport from Years 7- 9. Senior Boys played 8 games (then finals) with Senior Girls, Junior Boys and Junior girls all playing 6 rounds with finals matches at the end.

The Seniors and Juniors had a short timeframe to connect and bond as a team. This they achieved smoothly with cooperation and support from every team member. Not long into the day teams were discussing and managing their own interchange and team tactics, with coach assistance.

We hit the ground running and showed that we were no easy game. Our senior boys winning 2 games and 1 draw. They were determined, but with the heat and one interchange available they fought the good fight but missed out on a finals position. Our Junior boys won the first 3 games looking very threatening, however the close matches resulted with no finals position on the ladder. We are looking strong for next years competition. 

Senior girls showed great skills and determination with 3 wins, a draw and 1 loss finishing at the top of the leading board. Winning the first final against Luther they played a shortened grand final match coming through as Runners up for the day. A big congratulations to Jana for achieving the  award for ‘Senior Girls Leading Goal Scorer’ . 

Junior Girls were on fire all day. Not only did they come away with a tan, but a win for every game and the Premiership Medals. Everyone was a vital member in achieving the goals with some pretty amazing shots as a result.

Congratulations to all teams on an outstanding effort in melding as a team, communicating positively and staying focused on the goal!!

Are you an elite sports man/woman?

The Sport Department would love to hear from any student (or parent on behalf of their student) who has played sport at an elite level and has achieved some outstanding results this year.

These can include sports outside of the Huntingtower Sport programs.

We are looking to recognise these students and their amazing sporting abilities.
