Year 1 and Year 2 Swimming
This week, our Year One and Two students began their swimming program. The start of this program not only signifies a valuable addition to their physical education but also promises a fun and engaging experience that will contribute to their overall growth and well-being. Our students will learn to swim and cultivate a sense of water confidence and safety that will stay with them for a lifetime.
Day for Daniel
On Friday, our school observed 'Day for Daniel,' a significant event dedicated to raising awareness about child safety. In conjunction with our Respectful Relationships lessons, the activities and discussions during this day are designed to empower students with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves.
Junior School Maths
Our Junior School students have delved into the concepts of 'Capacity' and 'Mass' during their Mathematics lessons this week. Their explorations have involved hands-on activities such as pouring and transferring liquids, determining the weight of objects through hefting and balance scales, sorting items based on weight and capacity, and engaging in problem-solving exercises.
Prep
This week our Prep's are learning the Duck rule. When the 'k' sound comes after a short vowel sound in a one syllable word, we use 'ck' (duck, hack, brick).
In Writing students have been learning to finish sentences when given a sentence stem starting with the conjunction ‘if’ or ‘when’.
Year One
In MSL Year One's are learning the 'I saw Paul' rule, looking at the "aw" and "au" sound.
In Writing we are learning to combine sentences using the basic conjunctions 'and' 'but' 'because' and 'so'.
Year Two
In MSL we are learning the rules 'receive the receipt' and 'small talk' looking at the 'cei', 'all' and 'alk' sounds.
In our writing lessons, we're exploring the use of subordinating conjunctions such as 'since' and 'although' in our persuasive writing compositions.
