Deputy News

Dear Parents and families,

It has been a busy few weeks at Sacred Heart with our asessments finishing up and our Swimming program being in full swing  this week. I have also had the priviledge to visit  Joseph's Black Rock and be involved in some important transition meetings. On Monday we welcome quite  a few students to Sacred Heart to get  a feel for what it will be like in our school in 2024. We welcome them with open arms into our beautiful community. We also welcome students from other schools.

DAY FOR DANIEL

Last Friday we had  a most successful Day for Daniel, in memory of Daniel Morcombe.  It was wonderful to see the juniors perform their 'Body Boundary' song in in assembly, their faces said it all. It was also briliant to see the actvities right across the school and it was a wonderful opportunity for our buddy program to be in full swing with the older students supporting the younger students. The activity of the safe hand was critcal in ensuring that students have 5 people they feel they can talk to at anytime if they need to. It was  a successful day and wonderful to see students contributing a gold coin for this worthy cause.

SWIMMING PROGRAM

The swiming program has been in full swing this week. This  8 day intensive program is the best way for students to learn the fundamental skills  of swimming strokes and water safety. We also thank all the parents for your organisation behind the scenes ensuring the children have all their swimming gear each day and getting students to school on time, it is much appreciated. We  will have our final week of swimming next week. Not only do we have a few tired students this week as we build our swimming stamina, we also have a few tired teachers who have ensured our students get to the pool each day and help with the organisation and smooth running of the program. Thanks to all the teaching and support staff for your flexibility and patience as we continue the swimming program next week.

MUSIC CLASSES

This week Mr Coutts invited me into listen to the yr 1's in his Music class. They were all so engaged, in tune and enjoying learning their music. They learnt a new rythmic element called za. They dont sing za, as it is known as a rest in music  so they put their hands on their shoulders to show the rest. This is just adorable, enjoy!

CHRISTMAS CAROLS ASSEMBLY

As we are not having our traditional evening Carols service this year, we will have a Sacred Heart Little touch of Christmas Assembly on the 8th of December at 9am -SAVE THE DATE. This will be  a lovely opportunity for our community to celebrate Christmas with some songs and Carols from each class. The students can wear a touch of Christmas on this day.

What a beautiful way for our Yr 1 students to end the week celebrating Elle's birthday on Friday with icypoles and Harry Potter pencils.

Have a wonderful and restful weekend and enjoy the sunshine,
