Year 4 Spotlight
Year 4 Camp
We all had a fantastic time at Mt Evelyn YMCA camp last week. We would like to say a really big thank you to the parents and extra teachers who volunteered their time to come and help us – without these people camp would not have been possible.
Here are some of our highlights!
It was a long drive; it was about 45 minutes. We were all ready to go up to our cabin, but we remembered that we didn’t have the names of our cabin peers. We sat down and started eating. Finally, one of the teachers called out to us. I was feeling excited, but a little nervous. As they read the names, people were squealing, they were really happy. Next was getting into our activity groups. Giant swing was first, continued by a great rest of the day!

As we walked up the hill, we could see a gigantic swing that actually looked like a slingshot. As it was my turn, it suddenly dropped. Launching me across the place, flying from side to side, at a really fast pace.
~ Sully, 4A
At camp there were four activities. We did three activities on day one and one on day two. The first day, I did the flying fox. The flying fox was hanging over a walkway. It looked about 30m long. When I was at the top, it looked scary. As I jumped off, it felt like I was falling and then hoisted up.
~ Lucien, 4A
I loved the Giant Swing because it was really high and fun. The cabins were really fun because they had bunk beds. I really enjoyed the Flying Fox because it was very fast!

At camp I really liked the Giant Swing because when you pulled the blue rope it was quite freaky and you got a bit of a shock, but it was awesome! The Hut Building was really fun because you had to find sticks to build a structure, then put more on top to make it waterproof.
~ Xav, 4B
I liked the Giant Swing because it went up really high and then came down really fast. I like the food because it was yum!
~ Eliana, 4B
The Giant Swing was really fun. It was high and when you released the cord, you went flying really fast. Everyone seemed like ants when we were looking down.
The Hut Building was really fun. A bucket of water was tipped over each hut to see if it was waterproof. It was cold and wet and other huts were screaming.
The Flying Fox was exciting. It was high and fast as well. It was exhilarating!
