VOCABULARY
Persuasive: A persuasive text is a form of non-fiction writing that aims to convince the reader of a certain point of view
Structure: Text structures refer to the way authors organise information in text. In a persuasive the structure is:
- Introduction
- Reason 1 and supporting evidence
- Reason 2 and supporting evidence
- Reason 3 and supporting evidence
- Conclusion
Language features: The language used in texts. In a persuasive text we use hyperbole (exaggeration), emotive language, quotations, etc.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Ask your child to brainstorm persuasive topics and list reasons for and against those topics.
