Principal's Message

St Luke's... "nurturing faith filled, curious children to become creative contributors and innovative problem solvers for a changing world."

Over the last three weeks, our inaugural HSC group has tackled around 30 distinct examinations, with the final exam week looming ahead. While many believe the HSC is solely about "how they perform on the day," this notion is far from accurate. In reality, the HSC represents the pinnacle of a 13-year educational journey, beginning with the invaluable contributions of our kindergarten and early learning educators who lay the groundwork in teaching fundamental reading and writing skills.

Indeed, the final HSC evaluation is not solely based on the HSC exam itself. It also encompasses assessments conducted throughout the year. The preparation for this crucial year has already commenced for our Year 11 students, and even some of our Year 10 students are getting a head start as they begin the HSC Course for Design, Hospitality, and Religion.

As the year 12 HSC cohort approaches the culmination of their academic journey, we take a moment to reflect on the dedication, hard work, and commitment each student has demonstrated throughout this significant chapter of their lives. It has been inspiring to witness not only the depth of your academic pursuits but also the generosity with which they have shared their time and knowledge with their peers. Their unwavering commitment to excellence is evident in every project, every assignment, and every examination they have undertaken.

The astounding achievement of receiving 55 early entry offers to universities for our 41 students speaks volumes about the collective dedication of our students. This accomplishment is not just a testament to individual excellence but is indicative of the collective spirit, cooperation, and approach to designing their future through our life design program that has been nurtured among you all.

These offers are a direct reflection of the hard work put into their studies and the support structures that have been in place throughout their HSC journey.

A special note of gratitude is owed to Mrs. Viney and her stellar team for the work that they have done with these students from the beginning of year 7, and to Mrs. Siric and Mrs. Campanale, for their relentless efforts in paving the path for the student's futures.

Their commitment to nurturing and guiding you through the myriad of post-school pathways has been instrumental in these accomplishments.

On this, the International World Teachers Day I would also like to acknowledge the teachers that work every day to build opportunities for our students. Teachers' dedication goes far beyond the walls of the classroom, exemplified by the myriad tasks they undertake to enrich their students' learning experiences. Organizing excursions, for instance, isn't just about selecting a destination; it involves meticulous planning, ensuring safety protocols, coordinating with various stakeholders, and managing logistics.

Events like school camps, which we are engaging in this year and next year,  require extensive preparations, from choosing suitable locations and activities to ensuring every student's well-being and dietary needs are catered to. Moreover, managing extra-curricular activities demands a balance of creativity and structure, as teachers have to design engaging programs and ensure they align with educational objectives. All these endeavors highlight the immense efforts teachers invest, showcasing their unwavering commitment to fostering holistic growth in their students.

The teachers at St Luke's are far and above the best and most caring group of teachers that I have ever worked with and certainly have their impact felt across the lives of our students.
