Market Day- Friday 23rd May

As we speed toward Market Day, we would like to thank the community for their support.

As the Year 6 students make their way through the stages of preparation and organisation to enable them to deliver their chosen activity on the day, we have been delighted at the enthusiasm and support afforded us from members of the wider community.

And not just through generous donations! An example of this was on Saturday, when students and parents from Foundation/Year 1 and Year 6 came together to check whether our pizza oven is functional.

It was lovely to hear the chatter from our younger students about their plans for Market Day.

Thank you so much to Luca (Mia’s dad) who is providing back up for the 'pizzeria' to the Year 6s on the day.

Mothers Day events - a thank you

Last week, we wrapped up the week with a truly heartwarming celebration of our Mothers and Special People Day Breakfast. It was a beautiful morning filled with sunshine, smiles, and connection as so many of our SKiPPS families gathered to share a coffee, juice and pastries before school.

A huge thank you to Lyndon Galvin for coordinating this lovely event, and to the amazing team of parent volunteers who helped make it happen. It was a joyful morning that captured the warmth and community spirit we’re so proud of at SKiPPS.

Later that day, the SKiPPS Mothers Day Lunch was another fantastic success. A massive thank you to Sophie Maguire for her outstanding work in coordinating the event — we know how much goes into making something like this happen. Thank you also to the fabulous team of mums who supported her every step of the way. More information about the success of this event is included later in the newsletter.

Events like these don’t just bring people together — they remind us what a strong and generous community we are part of. Thank you again to everyone involved! 💐

Classroom Tissues please

The arrival of the colder weather also brings sniffles and sneezes to the classroom, and the students are going through boxes of tissues each week.

If you can donate a box of tissues to your child's classroom, that would be greatly appreciated.

Outside School Hours Care Program survey

For the last four years the Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) program at SKiPPS has been provided by an external provider Team Kids, who have a licence agreement with our School Council to provide this service every day (and also on school holidays and curriculum days).

Following the completion of our building works, the Team Kids program is now back in its permanent home, the Kitchen Dining Room and the Director of Service Jacqui and her team have settled in.

Our current contract with Team Kids expires at the end of 2025 and School Council have decided to gather some feedback about the current program to understand parent and student perceptions of the service so we can make a well-informed decision around our next contract.

We would appreciate you spending ten minutes answering a short survey, so we can understand what our community thinks is important in an OSHC program and whether our current program fully meets these needs.

In doing this, we encourage you to chat to your children for their views on the program - whether they are regular users or not.

The survey can be found on the link below;

Thanks in advance for your feedback.
