Selamat pagi, siang, sore or malam! Good morning, afternoon or evening! Apa kabar? How are you? I hope you’re feeling baik sekali, great, because that’s exactly how me and the rest of the Year 8 Indonesian classes were feeling during the last week of Term 1! Thanks to our amazing Indonesian teachers, on Wednesday the 2nd of April we all got the opportunity to try all sorts of tasty Indonesian foods!

We kicked that day off with an assortment of interesting tropical fruits, and while they tasted different, they certainly tasted a whole lot better than they smelled! The rambutan was definitely a class favourite, though everyone loved the Durian despite its almighty stink.

After the fun we had with the fruits, we moved on to some delicious and spicy Indo Mie (Indonesian Noodles).

Next we moved on to dessert, in the form of some cakes and lollies. Everyone got a taste of two different types of butter cake, one normal and one with dozens of thin layers that made it look both delicious and pretty! The lollies all tasted great, the class really liked the coffee flavoured ones, though the coconut and ginger flavoured lollies tasted surprisingly good despite the odd combo! We finished off the day with some small jelly cups that were full of fun fruity flavours!

Everyone had a brilliant time learning, eating and having fun. The day was a wonderful experience as we got to learn not only the words for each food but we got to have a taste of the culture and cuisine of Indonesia! A big terima kasih (thank you) from everyone to the Indonesian teachers for organising the wonderful day!

Sampai jumpa everyone, see you later!
