LITERACY

This week in Literacy, we met Eddy the Elephant, who helps us with the /e/ sound. We continued our Literacy groups, revising the sounds we've learnt so far. We also began the good copy of our Autumn Leaf Writing, taking part in the editing process to make sure our writing was the best it could be!

NUMERACY

In Numeracy, we continued exploring addition, with a focus on making different numbers in different ways. We used unifix blocks, ten frames, and even counted animal legs to come up with different addition combinations. The students are becoming more confident in using strategies to represent numbers.

BEE INCURSION

Our Bee Incursion was a buzzing success! Beekeeper Thomas taught us about the three different types of bees: the worker, the drone, and the queen bee. We were even shown a special bee with blue wings, called a Blue Banded Bee! Our curious students asked some fantastic questions, such as:

  • “What happens when you get stung by a bee?”
  • “Why is there a queen bee and not a king bee?”
  • “How many bees can fit on a flower?”

We certainly learnt a lot about these amazing little creatures!
