2024 Annual Report and 2025 AIP

These two documents have been approved by School Council and submitted to the Education Department. They are now available to be viewed on the school website. Reports, Policies & Guidelines — Jells Park Primary School

The first of these documents, the Annual Report, lays out the outcomes of the school from last year, across all academic, financial and operational areas. The report is very favourable and shows all the fantastic outcomes of the school in 2024.

The AIP (Annual Implementation Plan) is the proposed activities of the school for the year ahead, based around our Strategic Plan, the State Education priorities and the continued development of learning programs and activities of the school.

Feedback on Work Samples Booklets

I welcome comment from any parent on the Work Sample Booklets that were sent home at the end of last term:

  • was the purpose of the work presented clear?

  • were they of value - to see the student's work?

  • were they of value - to see the teacher's assessment?

  • did they complement the continuum tracker?

Feedback on these questions, or any other thoughts, can be emailed to me on k.oakey@jpps.vic.edu.au

Attitudes to School Survey:

This annual Survey of student Attitudes to School (AtoSS) will be conducted in late May by the Level 4, 5 & 6 students. Parents will be given the option to have their child 'opt out' of this survey if you wish. Please note, however, that we take this survey, and the feedback it contains, really seriously and we use it to frame our programs and approaches for future years. We would very much like all students to complete the survey.

Important Reminders / notes:

Homestead Parking: The Monash Council is reviewing the parking on the school side of Homestead Ave. At the moment the parking is All Day, meaning it is occupied all day and reduces the availability of parking for parents in the morning and afternoons for drop-off and pick-up. The proposal from council is that this area becomes a 2hr parking area. I am strongly in favour of this proposal. Parents are welcome to submit comment on this proposal to mani.sitoula@monash.vic.gov.au

Sibling Enrolment for 2026: Please contact the office for the information flyer on how to register on the Enrolment Platform (Insight) and apply for your child to attend Jells Park PS. This can be done now. It really helps us to know the number of sibling enrolments really early.

Celebrating Excellence at JPPS

Excellence is one of the four core values at JPPS, alongside Respect, Honesty, and Resilience. Our students consistently demonstrate these values not only in their learning but also in their everyday behaviour around the school.

This week, I was delighted to receive two emails from JPPS parents highlighting moments of Excellence shown by our senior students.

One of our Year 5 students has been recognised as an outstanding role model and a wonderful support to his Foundation buddy. He regularly helps and plays with his buddy during and after school, forming a strong and caring connection.

Another parent shared how a senior student helped a younger student cross the road safely when the crossing supervisor was not present—a simple yet powerful act of kindness and responsibility.

These small but meaningful moments of Excellence contribute greatly to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at our school. Students who embody our values—especially when no one is watching—are true leaders and role models in our community.

If you witness a student demonstrating our school values in their daily life, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Let’s continue to celebrate the positive impact our students make every day.

Have a wonderful weekend!
