From The Principal

Stephen Arthurson

Dear Families,

Welcome to Term Two. It was wonderful to have a full week of school after a shortened Week One of term. We wish our Year Six students all the best as they head off to Camp Rumbug at Foster from Monday to Wednesday. Thanks to the staff who will be accompanying the students - it’s a huge responsibility to take 80+ students away for 3 days. Having attended this Camp myself quite a few times, I can attest to the fact that it is an amazing experience for all involved.

The Camp program for other year levels is outlined below. This was put together with the support of the School Advisory Council about 8 years ago. If you have any feedback on the program, please reach out to me or one of the members of the School Advisory Council (see email address below).

Pope Francis

  • It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Pope Francis early last week. He truly was a Pope who led the Catholic Church with compassion, humility and a dedication to helping others. Francis shunned some of the elaborate traditions of the papacy, instead preferring to live simply and austerely. His focus on caring for the poor, protecting the environment and encouraging peace showed that he truly valued and lived out the teachings of Jesus. We pray for the soul of Pope Francis, and for the Holy Spirit to guide the college of cardinals as they choose his successor.

Uniform Update

  • Thanks for your patience as we navigate the change to Noone as our supplier, and the addition of some updated uniform items. A huge thanks also to the members of the School Council who have driven this process following the retirement of Lynne Dillon. As I’ve mentioned in other communications, Lynne sourced uniform items from a number of different suppliers. something that was not going to be manageable moving forward.
  • Look out for communications from Noone regarding the transition process, stock availability, opening hours of the shop etc. As you’d appreciate, this side of things is out of my control, despite my wishes for everything to already be sorted! It may be the case that Noone opens the online shop first with the items that are currently available, rather than waiting for everything to be available before opening the physical store here at school. We would have sizing samples here at school for families to look at.
  • A summary of the changes is below. Based on feedback from the most recent parent survey, we will commence with a bomber jacket, puffer jacket and soft shell jacket as the outerwear options. We will revisit the option of adding additional items based on parent and student feedback later in the year.
  • A reminder that families will have until at least July 2026 to be in the full new uniform.
  • As a school, we will explore sustainable options for how families can dispose of outdated uniforms that they no longer require - stay tuned.

Mother’s Day

  • A reminder that the Mother’s Day Stall will be held next Thursday 8th May, for students in Years P-5, and on Friday for the Year 6 students (due to Camp). Items range in price from $2 to $10. Students are encouraged to bring along cash in an envelope (no more than $15 in total). There will be an option for an IOU if students forget to bring money.
  • Mother’s Morning - All Mums and other special people are invited to our annual Mother’s Morning next Friday 9th May. It will run from 7:45am until around 8:45am, followed by prayer in classrooms and then morning tea. For those of you who have not attended a St Anne’s Mother’s Morning before, we have a range of activities set up across the school for Mums and children to enjoy together. It is quite the event!
  • Details about the activities, including a map of what is on where, will be sent out next week.

School Advisory Council

  • The School Advisory Council (SAC) met last night, with the discussion focused on Wellbeing at St Anne’s, led by Lauri Plummer (Deputy Principal - Wellbeing).
  • If you have suggestions for the SAC, there is an email address sac@sasunbury.catholic.edu.au that is monitored regularly, or you can email me or approach one of the members directly. Their details are displayed in the Office foyer.

Prep 2026

  • The second round of applications closes on May 16th. If you know of any Catholic families residing in our zone who attended our recent tours, and who have not yet submitted an application, please encourage them to do so as a matter of urgency.

Please continue to reach out with questions, compliments or concerns,

Warm regards and God’s Blessings,

Stephen
