Principal's Report

Mother’s Day
As Mother's Day approaches, we take this opportunity to recognise and appreciate the many loving and supportive individuals who play a significant role in the lives of our students. Mother’s Day is a time to pause and reflect on the important contributions made by mothers, grandmothers, aunts, carers, and other cherished figures who offer care, guidance, and unconditional support. These relationships are often at the heart of a child’s growth and wellbeing, and this special day allows us to acknowledge the impact they have on shaping confident, kind, and resilient young people.
To help celebrate this occasion, students will be bringing home gifts they have created, along with a small gift generously donated by members of our community. We hope these thoughtful tokens spark conversations of gratitude and appreciation at home.
From all of us at Macedon Primary School, we hope everyone has a wonderful Mother’s Day, filled with warmth, appreciation, and special moments with loved ones.
Walk to School Day
Walk to School Day is a great initiative that encourages students and families to get active, enjoy the outdoors, and promote healthy habits by walking to school. It’s also a wonderful way to reduce traffic congestion and support a more sustainable environment.
To support this initiative, we’re providing an opportunity for students to walk to school together on Friday 16th May. Some of our staff will be meeting at Tony Clarke Reserve at 8:15 am, and we’ll walk to school as a group from there.
We’d love to see as many families as possible join us for this fun and healthy start to the day. See you there.
Parent Open Morning
A reminder that our Parent Open Morning will be held on Friday 16th May, from 9:10 am to 10:30 am.
We are excited to invite families into our classrooms to take part in a range of fun and engaging activities alongside their children. It’s a fantastic opportunity to see learning in action and celebrate the great work happening across the school.
Following the classroom activities, we invite you to join us for a morning tea in the library.
This event is a pre-Education Week celebration of our amazing school and the strong partnerships we share with our families. We look forward to seeing you there.
Thank You to Our Election Day BBQ Volunteers
A sincere thank you to all the parent volunteers who supported our Election Day BBQ. With a full slate of helpers, we were able to provide our community with plenty of Democracy Sausages throughout the day.
We also extend our thanks to the families who donated drinks, which were a great help in making the event a success.
We appreciate your time, effort and ongoing support.
Inclusive Playground
We’re thrilled to share that construction is now underway on our new inclusive playground and outdoor classroom space.
The existing playground has been removed, and temporary fencing has been installed as works begin. We’re working closely with contractors to minimise disruption to the yard, and we thank students and staff for their flexibility during this time.
This exciting project is being funded through a $300,000 grant from the Department of Education, which would not have been possible without the hard work of our former School Council President, Julie Monk. We are incredibly grateful for her efforts in securing this opportunity for our school.
We look forward to watching this new space take shape and becoming a valuable, inclusive area for all students to learn and play.
Winter Solstice
Our Winter Solstice event will be held on Friday, 20th June, and we can’t wait to bring the community together at Middle Gully.
The event includes delicious food for sale, including soup, sausages, and baked goods, as well as a bonfire to keep warm and enjoy the atmosphere. There will also be an art show at the JCB and our traditional lantern walk from the JCB to Middle Gully.
Winter Solstice is a highlight on our school calendar, and we need volunteers to help us organise this amazing event.
If you're able to lend a hand, please email me.
