Belonging and Connection

A strong sense of belonging is one of the most powerful protective factors for young people’s mental health. At our school, students have been exploring what it means to belong, where they feel connected, and how they can foster belonging for themselves and others.

Recent lessons have focused on:

  • Understanding inclusion versus exclusion
  • Using active listening to build genuine connections
  • The positive impact of kind words in creating community
  • Practical ways to reach out when things feel difficult

Supporting your child at home: Ask your child who they feel most connected to at school. What did that person do to help them feel included? Encouraging these conversations helps strengthen the partnership between home and school in supporting student wellbeing.

Together, we can nurture a welcoming and supportive environment where every student feels valued and connected.
