Respect – respecting our teachers

Well done to our SRC, creating wonderful class posters and presenting our focus on Respect to their class this week.

Our school value of Respect extends beyond the classroom to how we treat each other, student to student, child to adult, adult to adult.

Safety for our school staff and communities, onsite and online, is non-negotiable.

Most parents, carers and other adults in our school community model our school value of respect. If they have a concern, they work together with school staff to resolve it.

However, harmful behaviour from some adults has increased. This includes online aggression towards school staff. While only a small number of adults behave this way, it affects the safety and wellbeing of school communities.

The Department of Education recognises the importance of creating safer school communities at a state-wide system level and are interested in seeking the feedback from all stakeholders. To find out more, go to https://engage.vic.gov.au/keeping-school-staff-safe

Additionally, the Department has recently shared community resources and you will notice new posters around the school promoting kindness and mutual respect in all our interactions with each other. As a community, we can continue to build strong, respectful partnerships by engaging positively with each other—working together to ensure the best outcomes for all students.

We appreciate the thoughtfulness with which you consider how and when you choose to discuss a challenge, raise a concern, or seek to understand further our actions and decisions.
