FEAST OF THE HOLY ROSARY

The month of October has traditionaly been dedicated to the Holy Rosary.  This coincides with the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on the 6th of October.  This day was instituted to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary in gratitude for the protection that she gives the Church in answer to the praying of the Rosary. It is one of the Church’s most powerful prayers, entrusted to us by Our Lady herself.  Pope Leo XlV has invited everyone to pray the Rosary for peace, everyday throughout the month of October.

Our Lady first requested the Rosary be prayed by three little shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, making this devotion especially meaningful for our school community of children and families. The Rosary is a prayer of peace and hope—tradition even attributes it to helping bring about the end of World War I.

In preparation for our parish and school Rosary celebrations, families within the school and Parish were invited to donate any spare rosary beads. The response has been wonderful, with so many generous donations already received. Thank you to everyone who has contributed—these beads will help our students grow in their love of prayer and devotion to Mary.

ROSARY PROCESSION

What better way to put these beads to good use than by joining in the St Patrick's Parish  annual Rosary Procession in honour of Our Lady?  This will take place this Saturday, the 11th October.  The procession will begin from the St Patrick’s school grounds at 5:00pm sharp, moving around the school oval, and will conclude at Our Lady’s altar in time for the 6:00pm Vigil Mass.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together in prayer and devotion to Mary, seeking her intercession for our families, our parish, and the wider world. We would love to see many of our families and children joining us for this special evening of faith and fellowship.

FEAST OF SAINT CARLO ACUTIS

On October 12th, the Church celebrates the Feast of Saint Carlo Acutis, a modern teenager who is an inspiring example of faith for young people today.

Carlo was born in 1991 and grew up with a deep love for Jesus, especially in the Eucharist. He attended daily Mass, prayed the Rosary, and used his talents in computers and technology to share the faith—he even created a website cataloguing Eucharistic miracles around the world.

Carlo’s life reminds us that holiness is not just for priests or nuns, but for everyone—even young people at school. He once said: “To be always close to Jesus, that’s my life plan.”

As a school community, we celebrate his feast day with joy, asking his intercession that we too may grow in love for Jesus and find ways to use our own gifts for good.  We are fortunate too that within our Parish at the Stella Maris Church in Beaumaris, there is an exhibition of St Carlo Acutis with a full program of events to celebrate the life of this incredible young man.  For further details check out the Parish bulletin attached to this school newsletter.

PARISH CHILDREN'S CHOIR

Mrs Earle, our former music teacher would like to remind students that the children's choir is starting rehearsals on October 8 at 3.30pm in the Parish Choir Room. New members are welcome. Please contact the Parish office (9583 2103) if interested.

With Christmas not too far away, Mrs Earle is hoping to have the children's choir singing at the Christmas Vigil Mass. What a wonderful opportunity for our very talented students to  share their voices in celebration of this special season.

Saint Carlo Acutis and Our  Lady of the Rosary, pray for us!
