Gratitude Wall

During mentor class time, students had the opportunity to watch a video made by the school captains. In this video, the captains talked about the importance of showing more gratitude to our teachers. They explained that teachers put in a lot of hard work every day, but often, that effort goes unnoticed by students. The video encouraged everyone to think about how we can appreciate our teachers more. After watching the video, all the students were given a chance to write gratitude notes on sticky notes. They could choose to thank one or more teachers who have made a difference in their lives.

Our wellbeing and community team then organized a meeting where we gathered all the sticky notes to create several large posters on A3 sheets of paper. Each poster featured heartfelt messages from the sticky notes. It was wonderful to see how sweet, thoughtful, and nicely written all the notes were. Through this activity, students showed core values like respect and gratitude towards their teachers. It was a great way for everyone to express how much they appreciate the hard work that the teachers do, even if it often goes unseen.

After creating the posters, some members of the community and wellbeing team went to the bulletin board outside of the HUB and pinned each poster up for everyone to see. Now, during their free time, teachers often gather around the bulletin board to read the kind messages that students wrote for them or for their fellow teachers. This shows how even the simplest acts of kindness can help make the unnoticed efforts of teachers become recognized and valued. It reminds us all that taking a little time to say thank you can really brighten someone's day and make them feel appreciated.
