Working Bee this Sunday and Lawn mowing
We have a working bee this Sunday 9:30-12.00 and welcome anyone who is able to come along and help. Jobs that we would love help with (either at the working bee or anther day) include:
- turning over and raking the soft fall under the play grounds
- assembling a small garden shed kit
- weeding on the street side of the picket fence so we can fill it straw flowers
- weeding the terraced garden beds to complement the wonderful fence David has installed
- mowing and brushcutting
- working on our new student workshop space
- weeding the greenhouse
At this time of year everything is starting to grow At Taradale PS we have a lot of grass that grows very quickly at this time of year.
If anyone would like to help us keep it under control, any assistance would be most welcome. We have a motor mower and a whipper snipper on site and I have been bringing my ride on mower to mow the larger areas.
Tomato stall
This Tuesday we are holding our annual tomato sale. The varieties are listed on the flyer below, a mix of popular varieties from other years and some new interesting addtions.
The plants have been raised by the students with guidance from Eve.
Proceeds from the sale support our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Programme.
Sales this Tuesday from 3.00 at the Lyell St gate
Breakfast Club
This week we had a new volunteer join us for Breakfast Club on Tuesddays. Cameron is a Uni student completing a community placement at our school. As well as helping at Breakfast Club, Cam is also helping out in the garden classes.
We are now running Breakfast Club Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Everyone is welcome to come along for breakfast, whether you've had no breakfast or multiple breakfasts already.
Transition session for 2026 prep students
We held our first sandpit transition play session on Tuesday, it was great to see most of our new preps and parents (and some younger siblings) getting to know each other as they played in the sand and visited our chooks and ducks.
We have another two optional 'sandpit play' sessions hosted by me to give the students additional time to familiarise themselves with the school and their new classmates as well as for parents to meet each other, have a chat and ask me questions.
remaining sandpit transition days - parents remain with children
Wednesday 22 October 1.15-2.15
Tuesday 28 October 1.15-2.15
Formal transition days - children join the prep class without parents (parents welcome to remain onsite)

2026 enrolments - all year levels
For people still looking to enrol at a school for 2026, we are still running tours of the school and taking enrolments.
We are nearing our enrolment capacity, but with a larger than usual year 6 cohort leaving at the end of the year, next year we expect to be under the capacity and welcome enrolment enquiries from near and far - including people from outside the school zone.
If you or anyone you know is interested in knowing more about enrolling at Taradale PS, please contact me.
