A Busy Start to Term 4

Term 4 is always an eventful and exciting time, and we’ve already achieved so much in less than a fortnight! This term marks the beginning of the camp experiences for our primary students. Our Prep–Year 1 students will enjoy their Big Breakfast on Friday 10 October, while our Year 2–3 students are looking forward to their Big Night In on Thursday 16 October. Meanwhile, our Year 4–6 students have already kicked off their adventure at camp, departing on Monday 13 October.

Our secondary students continue to impress—actively participating in sport, striving for academic excellence, and working together to develop initiatives and resources that benefit our whole school community.

With great appreciation,

Vicki Kfoutelaris

Campus Principal

Grade 4-6 Camp (Monday 13th – Wednesday 15th October)

Today, our Grade 4–6 students set off for camp at Cave Hill Creek—an award-winning venue that offers endless opportunities for adventure, teamwork, and personal growth. Within an hour of their arrival, I received a few photos that perfectly captured both the stunning setting and our students’ excitement as they began their camp experience. We look forward to hearing all about their adventures and the memories they create when they return later this week!

A shout out to Mr Hutchison, Ms Cahill, Mr Hill and Ms Diego, sharing the adventure

Competition

We all love our footy, and Ms Coghlan made sure to bring that excitement to school! At the start of the AFL Finals Series, she launched a competition for all students to predict the AFL Grand Final winner. Thirty-six students backed the Brisbane Lions for the win. To make things even more exciting, six Sherrin footballs were up for grabs!

Students were grouped into three groups and during our assembly Monday 13th October, two students from each group were drawn out by our Assistant Principal, Ms Douglas and our Year 8 Co-ordinator Mr Philip Moore. —Prep–Year 2, Years 3–6, and Years 7–9—and the lucky winners drawn were…

SRC – Delivering for our students

Last term, the SRC organised an Out of School Uniform Day to raise funds for new soccer goals for our secondary students. While everything these days seems to come flat-packed, that didn’t stop our amazing students, Christine and Isabella (Year 8), who took on the challenge—Allen key in hand—and successfully assembled the goals! Their hard work didn’t go unnoticed, with Bella Rose and Eman (Year 9), our SRC President and member, on hand to admire their efforts.

8C Art Exhibition – “My Canvas, My Art”

We’re excited to share that 8C will be exhibiting their artwork as part of the My Canvas, My Art exhibition, organised and presented by the Hobsons Bay Arts Society. This wonderful event gives our students the opportunity to have their work displayed and appreciated by a wide audience.

The exhibition runs from 17 October to 6 November at the Civic Centre Foyer, 115 Civic Parade, Altona.

A big thank you to Ms Corral, 8C’s art teacher, for supporting and guiding our students throughout this creative journey.  Hope to see you at the exhibition.

SunSmart Policy – No Hat, No Play

A reminder that during Terms 1 and 4, our "No Hat, No Play" policy is in place for all students from Prep to Year 6. Students must wear a broad-brimmed hat when outdoors. Those without a hat will need to stay in shaded areas during breaks.

Please ensure your child brings a hat each day, and feel free to apply sunscreen before school. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe in the sun!
