Principal's Report

WELCOME BACK
Welcome back to everyone. A bit more sunshine over the past two weeks would have been nice, but I’m sure that didn’t stop the kids having some fun. Hopefully they’re re-energised and ready to finish off the year strongly.
It was great to finish last term with our Celebration of Learning Evening. As always, we had an enormous crowd in attendance and thanks to everyone for coming along and showing an interest in what your children are doing at school. The teachers did an excellent job planning activities that helped all visitors build an understanding of the learning that’s taking place in the classroom. Hopefully you found that useful. A big thank you to Tracey and her team who did an excellent job providing dinner and other refreshments on the night.
The final day of term was loads of fun. The kids enjoyed finishing assembly with a footy colours parade, before adding their Mphatso donations to jars in the courtyard. Thanks to everyone for being so generous. In the end approximately $1,400.00 was raised for the cause. Then during the lunch break there was a colour run sliming (well done Mrs Brokenshire), followed by a staff -v- students game of netball and a lunch time live event. All 3 attracted good crowds and allowed us to finish the term in good shape.
There’s always a lot happening in term 4 and plenty for the kids to look forward to, including:
- The Pre-Schooler Program in weeks 1-4.
- Swimming programs for the 5-6s.
- A Colour Run (Oct 24)
- Grade 1 late stay, grade 2 sleepover and Scotsburn whole school sleepover
- Plenty of sport, including the P-2 Sports Day (Nov 26), along with the lawn bowls team competing in the state final and a number of students competing at the regional athletics
- EBT (Energy Breakthrough) in week 7
- Our first participation in a Karuta competition (Nov 27)
- Grandparents and Special Friends Day (Nov 28)
- Orientation Day for our 2026 Preps (Dec 9) and Orientation days for our current grade 6s
- Parent Teacher Interviews (Dec 8 & 10)
- Scotsburn end of year concert (Dec 15)
Grade 6 Graduation (Dec 16)
Kinder to Primary School Transition
We’re excited to have our Pre-Schooler Program start this week and expect to have plenty of excited 4 and 5 year old children join us for sessions on Wednesday and Friday. No doubt our grade 6 Transition Team members will also be excited, as they get to help out with these sessions.
Planning for 2026
We are now in the thick of planning for next year. Obviously, this is dependent on student numbers, so urge anyone who has a prep to enrol for 2026 to complete an enrolment form and submit it as soon as possible.
Vacation Projects
We had a lot going on over the break in terms of maintenance and improvement projects. These included:
- New Carpet for 2 classrooms - New carpet has been laid in PLR & 1RM and looks fantastic…massive improvement.
- Painting – A range of jobs have been completed, including the front entrance at the Buninyong Campus and parts of the exterior of the double portable and old building at Scotsburn. These spaces now look refreshed.
- Concreting – At the front entrance at the Buninyong Campus we had a large number of cracked pavers in one area, along with uneven surfaces at the single gate near the P-2 playground. These areas have now been concreted, which looks much better and is much safer. A big thank you to one of our parents, Mark Dell, for getting this work done for us.
It’s always good to get jobs, such as those listed above, completed while there are no students on site and it’s good to keep chipping away and making sure all spaces in the school (both campuses) are well maintained.
