ACED

Our ACED students in Years 7–9 recently took part in an exciting maths incursion, Escape from Dinosaur Island. Throughout the day, students worked collaboratively in teams to solve a series of challenging and interactive maths problems as they progressed through the activities.

Each task required students to apply their literacy and mathematical knowledge in new ways, using problem-solving strategies, logical reasoning, and creative thinking to find solutions. Students were encouraged to discuss their ideas, test different approaches, and persist even when the challenges became more complex.

It was fantastic to see students demonstrating strong teamwork, resilience, and engagement throughout the day. They supported one another, shared strategies, and celebrated their successes as they worked through each stage of the experience.

Overall, the incursion provided a fun and meaningful way for students to apply their maths skills in a real-world context. Congratulations to all students for their effort, enthusiasm, and positive attitude in making the day such a success!

8C Incursion

Students in 8C recently took part in an exciting incursion with Dr Hayden Dalton from the University of Melbourne. During the session, students worked with real rock samples, looking closely at their features and learning how they are formed.

They also used specialised microscopes to view thin slices of rocks, which allowed them to see the different minerals and colours inside. This helped them understand how scientists identify and classify rocks.

Students learned about how the Earth’s surface changes over time, including how tectonic plates move and cause earthquakes and volcanoes. They also explored the different types of rocks, igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic, and how each type is formed.

It was a fantastic hands-on experience that helped bring their learning to life.

Year 12 Food Studies

Our Year 12 Food Studies students have been busy preparing for their Unit 4 Area of Study 2 SAC. As this is our largest SAC, we have flipped the outcomes to allow students to focus on building their knowledge and confidence in this key assessment. Students recently attended a library session where they were educated on correct referencing techniques, developing important research and academic writing skills to support their work. They also gained a taste of the referencing expectations they may encounter at university, helping to prepare them for future pathways beyond secondary school. A big thank you to the Library Team, particularly Mr Bergantino, for supporting our students and sharing their expertise.
