From the Principal Class Team

Dear MRC Community,

As we reach the midpoint of Term 2, the College is alive with energy, purpose, and momentum. In the weeks ahead, our focus turns to the completion of key assessment tasks, including mid-year reports and examinations for many of our secondary students. This is a pivotal time in the academic journey, requiring students to prepare diligently, engage deeply with their learning, and actively seek and apply feedback from their teachers. By doing so, they can consolidate their understanding, build confidence, and continue to make meaningful progress.

Breakfast Club @ MRC - Supporting Our Students Every Day

Through a range of wellbeing and engagement initiatives. Our Breakfast Club is available every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, ensuring students can start their day with a healthy meal and a positive mindset. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, students can access a Lunch Program, offering additional support for those who need it. Throughout the day, students who require a little extra boost can access fresh fruit at both recess and lunchtime, helping them stay energised and ready to learn.

There are also plenty of opportunities for students to connect, relax, and explore their interests through our lunchtime clubs, including:

  • Chess Club (Tuesday)
  • Mindfulness (Wednesday)
  • Lego Club (Thursday)
  • Art Therapy (Friday)
  •

Students can also get active with No Bull activities on a Friday, on the astro turf, promoting teamwork, inclusion, and fun in a safe outdoor environment.

These programs reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting student wellbeing, engagement, and success at school, and we are grateful for the community partnerships, such as Woolworths Highlands Shopping Centre, that help make this possible.

Breakfast Club in the Early Years

Our Early Years Breakfast Club continues to be a wonderful way for students to start the day. Each Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30am–8:50am, students are invited to join us for a healthy breakfast in a welcoming and friendly environment.

Breakfast Club is a great way to fuel growing bodies and brains, helping students feel energised and ready for a successful day of learning. While enjoying breakfast, students have the opportunity to build friendships, practise social skills, connect with peers and staff, and develop positive routines before the school day begins.

All students are welcome to attend, and we encourage families to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity.

A big thank you to our staff and volunteers who help make Breakfast Club such a positive experience for our students each day!

 Attitude to School Survey

The Attitudes to School Survey is conducted annually by the Department of Education for students in Years 4–12. This term, students participated in the survey during Weeks 4 and 6.

The College places great value on student feedback and will use the insights gathered to further enhance opportunities that are engaging, meaningful, and responsive to students’ needs and interests.

The survey focuses on four key areas:

  • Effective Teaching Practice for Cognitive Engagement
  • Teacher–Student Relationships
  • Learning Characteristics and Dispositions
  • Social Engagement

We look forward to working with both staff and students to analyse the results and use the data to strengthen learning experiences, as well as social and emotional development across the College.

Education Support Staff Day

World Education Support Staff Day was celebrated at the college on Monday, 18th May. This global initiative, led by Education International and supported by organisations such as the Independent Education Union (IEU), recognises the vital role of professional, administrative, and support staff in schools.

At MRC, we take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank our outstanding Education Support Staff. Their dedication, patience, and care make a meaningful difference every day. Through their behind-the-scenes work and individual support of students, they play a crucial role in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

We are incredibly grateful for their contribution to our College community. Their work does not go unnoticed, and we sincerely thank them for all they do.

Excursions & Incursions

As you will read in other sections of the newsletter, the last few weeks have been particularly busy with numerous excursions and incursions taking place. These events require much work and preparation, and we acknowledge the great effort and contribution of staff and community partners to ensure their success, congratulations to all involved.

DadFit

MRC has again embarked on weekly DadFit sessions which includes a full-body workout, open and honest dad chats, and practical 'dad challenges' to help you be the best dad you can be. Led by experienced facilitators and fellow dads, DadFit will support men wanting to get active, share stories, and connect with other dads.
