Cruising along in 3-4TG....

Well, it is difficult to believe we are almost halfway through Term 2! We have once again settled in to our learning very well this term and are focusing on giving our best efforts in all areas, academically and socially. Here are just some of the things we have been up to this term:
LIFE CYCLES: POSTERS AND PRESENTATIONS
We have been learning about Life Cycles this term and how they differ for reptiles, mammals insects and other living creatures. To demonstrate their understanding of the topic, the students were asked to choose a living creature, research its life cycle and present this information creatively in a poster format. To further develop their skills, the students then prepared an oral presentation to the class about their poster. The posters were completed to a very high standard and are currently displayed in our hallway. Please come and have a look!
CHROMEBOOKS
The students are given many opportunities to use digital technologies to reinforce and assist their learning. Some of the ways in which the students may use their individual Chromebooks are:
- Revisiting class presentations / lessons by visiting Google Classroom, where the teachers can upload tasks and slides for all students to access.
- Students can complete Maths tasks and assessments and type responses to texts for Reading Comprehension
- Spend time in Typing Club to improve typing skills and learn to research responsibly online for projects.
- Students may also type up written texts to print for projects, as well as create Google Slides.
- Sometimes we use teacher-approved links on the Google Classroom to practise English and Maths skills.
These are just some of the ways in which we use our Chromebooks regularly in class, and the students look after them very responsibly.
PRAYER MAT: AN ARTISTIC UPDATE
Our prayer mat is now complete! Each student has created a little piece of art that is a representation of themselves, and when put together we have a beautiful prayer mat to gather around each day. It is a very special part of our classroom.
YEAR 4 GIRLS DAY OUT TO AVILA
Last week the Year 4 girls visited Avila College for a “taster day”. By all accounts it was a fantastic experience! For all Year 4 students and families: now is the time to keep an eye out for secondary schools holding open days, school tours and “taster days”. Any opportunity to visit a potential school and get a “feel” for the school is invaluable.
Here is what our girls thought of their day out at Avila:
Malia: It was great fun because there are so many subjects to take part in.
Alannah: I enjoyed the science and the kitchen space.
Kiara: Our day was the best day ever because we got to experience high school.
Aisha: We did a science experiment to solve a mystery and we decorated cookies in the kitchen.
