Principal's Message to the School Community

Celebrating Growth: Strong NAPLAN Progress Across Our School

At the end of Week 2 this term, our school received the 2026 NAPLAN summary results (excluding Writing, which has not yet been released). We are very pleased to share that the results show strong growth and improvement across several learning areas for our students.

This is particularly exciting as improving student learning growth and achievement in literacy and numeracy has been one of the key targets in our current four-year Strategic Plan, which is due for review in 2027. These results are a wonderful celebration of the hard work of our students, staff and families working together to support learning.

To help us better understand student progress, we analysed our “matched cohort” data. This means we compared the same group of students from when they were in Year 3 in 2024 to their results now as Year 5 students in 2026. Looking at the same students over time gives us a clearer picture of the growth students are making, not just how they perform at one point in time.

Some highlights from the data include:

Spelling: Students showed strong improvement overall, with more students achieving in the Strong and Exceeding categories and significantly fewer students requiring additional support.

Reading: Reading results showed excellent growth across the cohort, with more students achieving strong results and fewer students needing intensive support. This reflects the positive impact of our continued focus on reading instruction and student engagement.

Numeracy: Numeracy results demonstrated steady and positive improvement, particularly with fewer students in the lowest achievement category and more students achieving strong learning outcomes.

Grammar and Punctuation: This area showed particularly impressive growth, with a significant increase in students achieving at the Exceeding level and many more students working within the top achievement bands overall.

While we are proud of these achievements, we also recognise there is always more work to do. Our ongoing focus will be on continuing to support all students to grow, while also extending students performing at the higher achievement levels.

We thank our dedicated staff, supportive families and wonderful students for their collective efforts in achieving these positive outcomes. We look forward to sharing our Writing results once they become available later in the year.

Celebrating Our Education Support Staff

On Thursday, we took a special moment to recognise and celebrate the incredible contributions of our Education Support (ES) staff across our primary school community.

Our ES staff play a vital and often behind-the-scenes role in ensuring every student is supported to learn, grow, and thrive. Whether working alongside teachers in classrooms, supporting students with additional needs, assisting with wellbeing, or helping maintain the smooth running of our school, their dedication, care, and professionalism make a meaningful difference every single day.

To acknowledge this important work, we hosted a special morning tea in their honour to coincide with International Education Support Day on May 16th. It was a wonderful opportunity to come together, say thank you, and reflect on the positive impact our ES staff have on our school.

A highlight of the celebration was the beautiful cards of appreciation created by our students. These heartfelt messages and drawings captured just how much our ES staff are valued by the children they support each day. The genuine gratitude expressed in these cards was a powerful reminder of the relationships our ES staff build and the difference they make.

We extend our sincere thanks to all of our Education Support staff for their ongoing commitment, compassion, and invaluable contribution to our school community. We are truly fortunate to have such a dedicated team.

Kind regards,
