Talented Artists

This week, Pablo Picasso has been our featured artist profile. OAK 1, Lilly Pilly 3 and Sea 4 have been exploring the fascinating world of Cubism and studying the ways Picasso challenged traditional portraiture.

Artists use their work to alter the way we see ourselves and each other. Picasso experimented with showing faces from many different viewpoints at once, encouraging audiences to think beyond a single perspective. Inspired by this idea, OAK 1, Lilly Pilly 3 and Sea 4 created their own 3D Cubist portraits, combining shape, colour, and multiple facial angles to represent identity in imaginative and creative ways.

Their vibrant artworks are now proudly on display on the Art Room wall.

Ryan's Round Up - Here's the Dirt

Gallery Image

A Giant pumpkin was harvested on 13/05/26 in the children's nature play at Chatswood Public School by Miss Chris the school gardener and Ryan Z. There were three french pumpkins, the largest one is currently being cut. After the pumpkins were harvested, Miss Chris and Ryan brought them to Lilly Pilly 2 where we had a competition to see who could guess the weight of the largest pumpkin. Miss Hodgetts from Forestville had the exact right guess. It was 13kg.

Community of Schools Student Leadership Day

Last Friday, Chatswood Public School, Atarmon Public School and Mowbray Public School leaders attended the Community of Schools Student Leadership Day, hosted by Mowbray Public School. The school captains, vice captains, prefects, sport captains and vice sport captains spent the day taking part in leadership activities and learning about what true leadership is.

The Chatswood High School prefects were also in attendance and passed on valuable advice on how to successfully plan for and complete a School Initiative. They emphasised how leaders need to be open-minded, organised and creative. Through an interactive Q&A panel, the high school prefects passed on an important message that it's okay if something doesn't work out the first time - it's important to reflect and try again!

At the end of the day, schools had an opportunity to work with the high school prefects to enhance the initiatives that they have already been working on. Each school then presented their initiative and 3 steps that they would take before their next leadership meeting at school.

As you can see through the big smiles and deep thought on their faces in the photos that were captured, the school leaders enjoyed the productive and fun day!
