   Principal's Message

Dear Parents, Carers, and Friends of St Philomena’s,

It has been a wonderful fortnight in Moree, and we thank God for the beautiful rain we received. This much-needed downpour has been a lovely blessing for our school community, helping us all feel refreshed, revitalised, and ready to grow.

Last week was a deeply special time for our Year 6 students who celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation. It was an absolute privilege to welcome Bishop Murphy to our school to share in this milestone occasion. We pray that the Holy Spirit continues to guide our candidates, and we extend our sincere thanks to the families and staff who helped prepare them so beautifully for this step in their faith journey.

This spiritual milestone beautifully complemented our Catholic Schools Week celebrations, where we highlighted the vibrant nature of Catholic education within the Diocese of Armidale. The week culminated in a wonderful celebration as we hosted all the schools from our western deanery here at St Philomena’s for Mass. It was a joyful, uplifting occasion that truly demonstrated the strength and unity of our wider regional community.

We also commenced last week with a respectful school commemoration for National Sorry Day. Held annually on 26 May, this day is a vital opportunity for all Australians to acknowledge the Stolen Generations, remember those who were forcibly removed from their families, and reflect on the ongoing journey of healing and justice. This solemn commemoration provided a meaningful foundation for our students as they moved into our National Reconciliation Week activities, learning how we can all contribute to a reconciled future.

As we head into the upcoming long weekend, I want to wish all of our families a fantastic and safe break. I hope you have a wonderful time relaxing and connecting with your loved ones, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back safely next week.

God Bless
