Principal's Report

The beginning of Term 2 has provided a number of meaningful moments for reflection and connection across the School.
We commenced with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony led by Elder Perry Wandin, of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people. This was a grounding experience for our community, inviting us to acknowledge the deep history of the land on which we gather each day.
Our ANZAC Day service also offered a moving opportunity for reflection. It allowed us to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served in preserving our nation. The legacy entrusted to us serves as a powerful reminder of the responsibility we all carry.
In Assembly this week, I spoke to students about the power of words and the care that comes with them. We are increasingly surrounded by inflammatory language that is all too easy to dismiss as background noise. Yet words are not easily taken back. Once spoken, they take on a life of their own, shaping how we see others and how we respond.
We are reminded in Proverbs that “a soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” This enduring wisdom encourages us to pause and choose our words with care.
When we approach one another with understanding, we help create a culture where people feel acknowledged, respected and valued.
As the term unfolds, the challenge is a simple one. To be deliberate in how we speak, thoughtful in how we listen and consistent in how we treat one another. In doing so, we do more than contribute to a positive culture, we actively create one.
