Science News
In Science we have already conducted quite a few investigations allowing students to practise their Inquiry Skills.
Year 7’s have been practising writing hypotheses and recording observations, they have completed two investigations on Surface Tension. Year 8 students have started the year studying cells, this has allowed them to use microscopes and conducted two investigations on cells. They have been focussing on how to draw specimens biologically correct and refining their conclusion construction skills. The Year 10 Scientists have started with their Chemistry Unit and recently investigated the Reactivity of Metals, focusing on incorporating detail into their discussion questions.
Later in Term 2 there will be an opportunity for Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 students to compete in the Big Science Comp. Keep an eye on the newsletter for when entries open.
Year 7 News
Our Year 7 students have had an exciting couple of weeks as they begin their secondary school journey!
Donald High School’s Swimming Sports were held on Friday, 6th February. Congratulations to all our Year 7 students who competed on the day. Well done to Indi Goldsmith for winning Age Group Champion, and a big shout-out to Team Buloke for securing the overall win.
A huge congratulations to Indi, Max, and Charlee, who will be representing Donald High School at the Interschool Swimming Sports in Boort on Tuesday.
Well done to Indi, Charlee, and Max for stepping up to take on SRC roles for 2026.
Next Wednesday, we are heading to Lake Boort for our Year 7 camp. A huge thank you to Mr Aikman and Mr Tatchell for accompanying us and supporting our activities.
Lastly, a special thank you to Sam Goldsmith and Tony Fagan, who will be bringing their speedboats to Lake Boort to add an extra thrill to the experience.
Newsletter items
Each newsletter, I will be publishing Year 7 homework when teachers provide me with the information. Another important item on this newsletter is the future Calendar Dates, usually on the front page. This will help you keep your finger on the pulse.
Communication
All parents and students have access to the Xuno platform. This will allow you to keep in regular contact with the school and be able to download relevant information. Your welcome email to Xuno was sent to you on January 28th.
