Italian

Ciao!

Foundation students discovered few interesting facts about Italy and Italians. We now know that 30 hours of a flight away from Australia there is a country called Italy where people speak Italian. We also learnt about the Italian flag and its colours. Every foundation student can greet, with a loud “CIAO!” and say their names in Italian.

Finally, we sang the “ciao buongiorno” song altogether which is going to be the start of every Italian lesson from now on.

Arrivederci!

Ciao!

With grade ones and twos, we learnt the differences between two countries being one on the north side of the equator and one on the south side. Seasons are different: in Italy it is winter right now while in Australia is summer. We reviewed different topics that we studied last year and discovered a few interesting traditions connected with Italians way to celebrate their birthdays.

Ciao!

Grades 3s and 4s reviewed past topics like days of the week, months and numbers in Italian. Thanks to them we had the possibility to, not only talk about Italian birthdays traditions (connected to actions that you must do to have a lucky year after your birthdays), but also practicing with numbers over a thousand which, can be tricky in Italian.

Ciao!

Also grades 5s and 6s reviewed past topics like days of the week, months and numbers in Italian. Thanks to them we had the possibility to, not only talk about Italian birthday traditions (connected to actions that you must do to have a lucky year after your birthdays), but also practicing with numbers over a thousand which, can be tricky in Italian. They also started reviewing verbs from last year with the goal to get more confident with their grammar rules during term 1, this is going to give the students enough knowledge of Italian vocabulary and grammar to be able to participate on many social conversations.

Arrivederci!
